Job Description
Vera Home Care is looking for a competent Caregiver to provide care and support for our valuable clients in a professional and compassionate manner. Caregivers provide assistance to people who are sick, injured, mentally or physically disabled, or the elderly and fragile. Caregivers work in client’s home and help their clients to manage activities of daily living and maintain the autonomy of clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead a team of care staff
- Supervise and manage a team of care workers
- Complete on site staff observations and monitor the quality of care provided
- Ensure that paper work is updated with regards to client changes in service needs
- Provide personal care and companionship
- Help clients to take prescribed medications
- Assist clients with personal hygiene
- Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparations that clients cannot complete on their own
- Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside
- Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop
- Report any unusual incidents
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
Qualifications
- Leadership skills: Must be approachable and aware of the issues faced by members of the team
- Attention to Detail: Some clients may have specific rules or needs that must be followed with keen attention
- Interpersonal skills: Caregivers must be sensitive as well as compassionate with clients, and should work in a very personal way with their clients
- Physical strength: Physical strength is required to meet client’s need and to provide proper care
- Time management: Time management is an essential skill for caregivers as they are schedule keepers
Requirements
- Proven experience as a caregiver
- Proven experience of working in teams and having a leadership role
- Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
- Up to date immunization record
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
- Valid Criminal Record Check including the Vulnerable Sector Search
- Strong ethics
- High school diploma and equivalent
